For those interested in taking part in the iNat, Bioblitz (tomorrow’s event), this wildflower opportunity may be for you!
Hosted by the California Native Plant Society, read below to learn about a 2 day field trip to the field station starting the day after the online presentation. You can elect to come for one of the days or stay overnight and attend both days! For $25/person, we can host 15 people, first come, first serve, in bunk style accommodations at the field campus. Or you may elect to stay at one of the several nearby campgrounds (fees apply) or perhaps you prefer to stay at a hotel in Truckee.
Please be aware, you will need to bring your own food and water that you'll need for however long you plan to participate.
Day 1: We will be meeting at the field campus at 11am on the 12th, and from there we will take a nice afternoon hike on the Sagehen Creek trail all the way to Stampede Reservoir and back. This trail passes through diverse habitats and will over a bevy of wildflowers to enjoy. After the hike, those staying at the field campus will return to the campus to eat and socialize.
Day 2 - Saturday, August 13: At Sagehen field station, we will be participating in a bioblitz being organized by CalNat. This will run from 9am-12pm. The idea is to take photos of and document all of the living creatures to be found at the campus and nearby habitats. These observations will be captured using iNaturalist. You'll want to have downloaded the iNaturalist app onto your phone and registered an account before arriving. After the bioblitz, you could head home *or* you could spend the rest of the day exploring the many beautiful locales in the vicinity of the field campus.
