Help Revegetate the Caldor Fire Burn Area
The Caldor Fire has wreaked havoc on our local landscapes. Although fires are normal in our regional ecosystems, post fire restoration can take years, if not decades. Reforestation is crucial, as many animals rely on coniferous forest habitat within the Tahoe Basin and surrounding areas.
How You Can Help
In order to expedite the return of a diverse and healthy forest ecosystem, trees need to be planted in the coming years. TINS is partnering with the Sugar Pine Foundation to collect local conifer seeds to be cultivated and planted in burned areas. Cones are just now starting to open up and release their seeds. Over the next few weeks, join us in an effort to collect the wild seeds of Jeffrey Pine, Incense Cedar, and Sugar Pine.
Important Directions:
Please only drop off seeds that have been removed from the cone.
Please include a written location of where seeds were found.
If you would like to be entered into a raffle to win a Patagonia prize, include you name, phone number, and email with your seeds.
